Sketches

Moleskine pocket ruled notebook paper over Moleskine large sketchbook. Heh.

The sketchbook looks so neat that I'm terrified most of the time to just go there and do some free doodling. So what i usually do is to pre-sketch in another piece of paper first and cut and paste if I find some interest in the results. Which of course defeats the purpose of a sketchbook.

Just in case someone doesn't know, there's a Xmas cards competition going on at Flickr. And one $ from every sale will be donated to Médecins sans frontièrs.

Again!

'Mandala', oil & coloured pencil on paper 33 x 24 cm

It's not been done specially for the occasion but it fits so nicely with this week's theme for Illustration Friday ('Grow') that I just could not let it pass without pestering you again with this image.
I'm sorry (well, not much).

You can always take a look at all the great illustrations there...

When I should be working...

Doodle with a blank mind
It's Drawanyway's fault!

Hats

Hats for 'Inspire me Thursday' acrylics on sketchbook

It's unfinished, but I thought I'd post it anyway because I don't think I can get them done before Thursday (and there are four others in the oven).
I'm trying to use simple drawings to get the hang of acrylics. I don't know what I'm doing most of the time though :D.

EDM # 4

EDM # 4 'Draw your mug or cup'
(whoa, twice in a day! ;o) )

EDM # 2

EDM # 2 'Draw a desk lamp or other lamp'

Have you ever found yourself drawing and then suddenly thinking ‘undo, undo!’?
I could even hear in my mind the sound of Ctrl & Z keys when pressed...

'Open'

My specialty, sketches which don't lead anywhere...

Under 1 minute sketch (really?!) for this weeks' Illustration Friday topic: 'Open'

(yup, I may think I'm clever. Duh.)

EDM # 13

EDM # 13 'Draw your telephone'

Ugh. I cannot believe I'm posting this.

Ok, things I learned:
I like the way the pages look with this irregular grid, but it's very uncomfortable, my hand is floating while I draw except in the very center of the page (got to think of something else).

I like the purple/red combination, but the purple is way too soft and smears easily (I can always try to find a harder one. I guess).

I was one of the last persons in the area without a cell phone. Not anymore.

Alphabet

'Alphabet' oil on sketchbook

A sketch for illustration Friday is all I could manage to do this week...
(I planned to keep on trying to work with light and cold colours... I don't know where all those warm tones come from!)

Colours I don't like

oil sketch on moleskine

I was inspired this week after reading 'Take delight in colour' at Drawanyway.com to try just the opposite :), think of the colours I usually dislike (pastel colours) and make something with them. This is not exactly what I had in mind, but since it's not finished the sketch may improve yet. Perhaps.

EDM # 1.3

EDM # 1 Draw a shoe

Have to change the format, I got no room to rest the working hand...

Labyrinth

'Laberint' oil on linen, 35x27 cm (on process, I think)

This week's topic for Inspire me Thursday is DNA (DNA, short for deoxyribonucleic acid, is a nucleic acid molecule that contains the genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of all known living organisms).

I've had this one sitting around waiting to be picked up again, so I.T. gives me a good excuse to get at it and keep on looking for the detailed directions on procedure which I'm supposed to come with. Heh.

Missing

watercolour on paper, 17 x 9 cm

The topic for this week's Illustration Friday is 'Missing', I'm not participating since this little thing is very very old (as in more than 10 years old!), but still holds interest for me.

Is it possible to miss places where you've never been to?

EDM # 1.2

EDM #1 - Draw a shoe

I guess something is better than nothing, but...

"As Gods are my witnesses, I'll never try to draw these shoes again."

EDM # 1.1

EDM #1 - Draw a shoe

I've always wondered how can someone draw/sketch while in front of tv... well I tried finally and although I couldn't really watch the series , I could listen to it pretty well!

(I have more shoes so I plan to work on this subject a bit longer... hence the 1.1...)
